We are looking for a Technical Advisor, Grazing and Rangeland, to join our fast-growing organization. As an Advisor for Grazing and Rangeland projects at AgSpire, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting producers to implement a variety of regenerative practices on a variety of projects managed by AgSpire. You will join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team of professionals working at the intersection of agriculture, greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainability at the farm and corporate level. This is a full-time, remote, and salaried position.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and knowledge of forage and rangeland management, grazing systems, and regenerative agriculture practices, as well as hands-on experience working directly with producers to provide the assistance needed for implementation of new regenerative practices. Competence in regenerative agriculture practices, greenhouse gas emissions, public and private incentive programs, NRCS frameworks and requirements are all central to this role. Strong analytical, written, and presentation skills, attention to detail and the ability to thrive in ambiguity are all central to this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with producers to identify opportunities and unique solutions for program enrollment and implementation of regenerative agriculture practices.
- Provide tailored technical support and develop individualized grazing management plans to enhance operational efficiency while creating beneficial environmental outcomes.
- Collaborate with implementation partners and producers to collect on-the-ground data and ensure adherence with the framework and requirements of the project.
- Provide subject matter expertise on grazing and rangeland on multiple project development efforts and client-facing meetings.
- Communicate effectively with producers, team members, and stakeholders to achieve project success.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional ranching partner organizations and government agencies.
- Prepare reports, improvement plans, presentations to share with producers and clients.
- Develop, organize, and present content for field-days, webinars, and any other producer-facing engagement.
- Represent AgSpire in meetings with external stakeholders, including clients and implementation partners.
- Support the team by problem-solving, challenges, conducting research and analysis, and identifying solutions for ambiguous situations.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage internal and external meetings to advance client goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong background and education in conservation practices and regenerative agriculture.
- Comfort in working with technical information and platforms.
- Understand the intricacies of public and private conservation programs (NRCS, FSA, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and responsibly while managing numerous projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills.
- Uses creative thinking and problem-solving skills to create solutions.
- Ability to influence and educate to convey programs and regenerative agriculture effectively.
- Self-starter with exceptional communication, and people skills.
- Ability to collaboratively work in a remote team environment.
- High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a regenerative agriculture and/or agriculture sustainability role is preferred.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with emphasis on Rangeland and Grazing management.
Preference Will be Given to Candidates With:
- Strong understanding of sustainability, conservation practices, and regenerative agriculture.
- Proven experience of working directly with producers to implement regenerative agriculture practices.
General Information:
- Region: Remote position – Upper Midwest and Northern Great Plains preferred.
- Substantial local/regional travel is expected (moderate overnight travel 40-50 nights per year)
- Frequent sitting for long durations of time throughout the day is required.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of lightweight equipment during travel may be required (e.g. laptop bag, promotional materials, etc.)
- The ability to use a computer and type/use mouse for extended durations of the day is required.
- The ability to see and read text on a computer screen, as well as visual material for design and marketing purposes is required.
- The ability to hear and participate in remote meeting and discussions via audio conferencing or video calls is required.
- Occasional driving may be required as needed for business purposes. Therefore, the ability to sit for an extended period while driving, having manual dexterity to handle the steering wheel, strong and visual acuity for driving various distances in different lighting conditions is required.
